Where is Hell or Jahannam?
Hell does exist — that’s true. But where is it? In response to this question, you can find out for yourself where Hell is actually located. First, ask yourself this:
Where were Adam (A.S.) and Hawwa (A.S.)?
The answer: In Paradise. Yes, that’s the truth.
Question: What did they do there?
Answer: They committed a sin.
Then what happened?
Answer: Then Allah sent them down to Earth as a punishment.
Question: Then, where is the punishment carried out?
Answer: In prison / in Hell.
Question: Where were they sent to receive the punishment?
Answer: To Hell.
That means, this world itself is Hell. And it was into this Hell called Earth that Adam and Hawwa (Eve), peace be upon them, were sent.
Now coming to the main point — not only Adam and Hawwa (peace be upon them), but all of us humans were wrongdoers/ sinners. Therefore, we too were sent to this Hell-like world to suffer the consequences of our actions. Because apart from Hell, there is no other place or opportunity to endure punishment.
After coming into this Hell called Earth, we are all, to varying degrees, suffering punishment according to our deeds. That’s why it can be said that our fate is predetermined. In this life, fate will never change.
“You will surely progress from stage to stage.” — Surah Al-Inshiqaq (84:19)
Heaven and Hell will remain as long as the heavens and the earth exist — Surah Hud, verses 107 and 108.
Here’s the English translation of your provided text:
Still, our only duty is to continue worshiping Allah. That means, wherever we are and in whatever condition, we must bring faith in Allah, perform righteous deeds according to His commandments, and stay away from all kinds of evil—until death.
Allah says: “Give me a goodly loan (Qarḍ Ḥasan).” Allah also says: “So enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise.” (Surah Al-Fajr 89:29–30)
Yet, none of us truly knows what Paradise is! Is what we imagine really Paradise? A place where a man will get 70 maidens (Hoor), and rivers of wine, honey, and milk?
No! That is not Paradise. That is an imaginary Paradise—one constructed by human imagination.
In reality, Paradise is meeting Allah. The ultimate Paradise is the vision of Allah.
It is returning to where we came from—merging with Allah, dissolving into Him.
To attain such a success, the seekers must continue their spiritual striving. (Surah As-Saffat 37:61)
You don’t believe it? Of course, it’s hard to believe!
Allah says: “He created you from a single soul.” ( An-Nisa 4:1)
That means the universe was created from the Nafs (soul) of Allah, and all creation has emerged from that one source.
And again, He says: “To Him you will return.” (Al-Baqarah 2:285; Ash-Shura 42:15; Yunus 10:4)
That means, we must all return to Allah.
However, no one can enter Paradise, or meet Allah, or dissolve into Him without a purified heart or soul.
Therefore, the Merciful Allah repeatedly sends humans into this world, which is a form of Hell, so that they may have the opportunity to purify themselves.
Yet those who, despite having multiple chances, fail to purify themselves—they are the ones who will become the eternal dwellers of Hell.
This implies that the universe will not be completely destroyed—Qiyamah (the end) will not come in an absolute sense.
Paradise and Hell will exist as long as the heavens and the earth exist. (Surah Hud 11:107–108)
